GLOSSARY of TERMS

Apparition - A ghost or spirit in it's full or partial physical form which is generally transparent.

Ectoplasm - A somewhat misty, yet solid mass which is supposed to be able to form itself into the shape of a spirit.

EMF - Electro Magnetic Field

Empath - A person who can pick up the feelings of another person psychically.

Entity - A ghost, spirit, or other non-physical being..

EVP - Electronic Voice Phenomena

Ghost - The spirit of a deceased person who has not crossed over, but lingers on the earth plane.

Ghost Hunt - A investigation of a place that is not reputed to be haunted in order to see if it actually is haunted.

Ghost Investigation - A investigation of a place that is reputed to be haunted in order to gather evidence. At times reputed haunted location turns out to be other causes for phenomena.

ITC - Instrumental Transcommunication. The actual meaning of the term ITC means that messages or images are stored by the use of technical means. But when many investigators speak of ITC they are referring to using tv's or computers along with the use of a video camera to view spirits.

LSC - Live Spirit Communication. This is generally attempted with the use of a Ghost Box or Ovilus type device. The Ovilus device is equipped with hundreds or even thousands of words depending on the device, and the premise is that spirits can use those words to speak.

A Ghost Box is basically a radio that has been hacked so that it will scan continuously through all the stations. The premise here is that a spirit can use the voice clips or radio waves to communicate. At times the voice will match up with the deceased person's voice, as well as details, names and even cursing may be heard which would not be on any radio program.

Medium - A person who can communicate with the dead through their psychic senses.

Orb - A ball of light which shows up in pictures. Orbs can be dust, pollen, moisture, and at times spirits. There are some people who can see the spirit orbs with their naked eyes.

Paranormal - Phenomena which is unexplained by the physical, but yet evidence of it exists. Beyond normal.

Phenomena - Unusual occurrances that either can't be explained, or are explained by paranormal means.

Portal - An opening between our realm and the spirit realm(s) where spirits may enter our dimension.

Psychokinesis - The ability to move objects with the power of the mind.

Sensitive - A person who can feel the energies of a place psychically.

Shadow People - Appear as solid black mass often in the shape of a human, but smaller animal shaped shadow beings have also been witnessed.

Spirit - The invisible essence of a person which lives on past the death of the physical body. A spirit may or may not be a ghost.

Telekinesis - The ability to move objects with the power of the mind.

Vortex - A misty mass which appears looking like a mini tornado. Reputed to be paranormal in origin, possibly a spirit, or a portal for spirit entry into the earthly dimension.
